Somersets Clinicians at Yeovil Hospital Gain Access to Dorset GP Records Through Groundbreaking Data Integration

Clinicians at Yeovil Hospital can now seamlessly access GP records for Dorset patients, create a plan of care, and write back to the patient’s record thanks to a significant integration between Somerset’s SIDeR+ shared care record and Dorset’s TPP SystmOne primary care records. This development enhances care quality and coordination for the 30% of Yeovil Hospital patients who come from Dorset.

The integration, delivered in partnership by NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Black Pear Software, addresses longstanding challenges caused by separate care record systems across Integrated Care Systems (ICS).

In July 2024, SIDeR+ was connected to SystmOne, enabling real-time access to Dorset patients’ GP data through the SIDeR+ platform. Yeovil clinicians can also create and share care plans with Dorset GP practices, strengthening cross-border collaboration.

NHS Somerset ICB awarded Black Pear a five-plus-two-year contract as its SIDeR+ technology partner earlier this year. This integration is part of a broader roadmap to connect more healthcare organisations near Somerset’s borders. Partners already onboarded include University Hospitals Bristol and Weston, Dorothy House Hospice, Weston Hospicecare, and Dorset County Hospital.

SIDeR+ is accessed over 35,000 times monthly by more than 2,600 frontline healthcare staff, a number expected to grow as additional organisations join.
This milestone ensures patients from Dorset receive the same high-quality care in Somerset, regardless of residence, reflecting the ICB’s commitment to seamless, patient-centred healthcare.
