Merry Christmas from Black Pear

Season’s greetings! Looking back, 2018 will go down as the year of the Maybot, when football almost came home – and when Brexit certainly did not. It also saw the NHS turning 70, giving us much to raise a glass to at Black Pear where everything we do is geared towards helping our health service stay in good shape.

On our front this has been a bumper year which saw us top the 10million mark in patients we cater for, gain central funding for one of our flagship products and get shortlisted for the Spectator’s Disruptor Award. And as we have our own notable birthday coming up – the big one zero – we are looking forward to making 2019 a landmark year.

Here are some 2018 highlights:

  • We now have over 1,000 NHS organisations covering 10million patients using our solutions – from GP practices and urgent care centres to out of hours services, acute hospitals and the NHS 111 service.
  • Core Care Plans gained central funding on the GP Systems of Choice (GPSoC) framework, massively simplifying its adoption by practices.
  • We are helping to develop the first integrated shared care service as lead partner for the Somerset Integrated Digital Electronic Record (SiDER) system. This will mark the first time we have joined up health and social care.
  • We were selected as finalists in the Spectator Disruptor of the Year Award for our work cutting A&E attendance rates by 23% in the North East as well as our use of the public cloud and healthcare data exchange.

Our tenth birthday is already shaping up to be an exciting one with Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) covering 2,000 practices and 3million patients set to join us early in 2019.

We are also looking to expand our platforms even further and support the growth in digital health applications that are flourishing across the NHS.

So enjoy the festivities after a special year for all those who work so hard to make our health service the unbeatable system it is, and here’s to the NHS going for another 70.

From all of us at Black Pear, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
